Second Fan Email

Our second mass emailing to our ever-increasing electronic fan base:

Welcome again, Fans of SIX! It has been an exciting summer for us, and hope it has been for you as well. It's hard to believe that it's been only a year since that first rehearsal with all SIX of us in the room at the same time. Since then, we've established a band name, website, gotten a PA System, amassed a repertoire of nearly 40 songs, performed at 4 gigs (one of which was shut down by the local police), and have an ever-increasing fan-base - which of course includes all of YOU! Thanks for your support!

Our last performance was arguably our best performance yet. On August 11th, we played to a private party of over 50 in Winchester - lots of good food and beverages, and SIX had them dancing the night away. After 3 sets, including encores, the crowd was demanding more, but it was getting late and we didn't want to push our luck with the neighbors. We are, of course, trying to cement our reputation as Winchester's premier party band, not Winchester's "Bad Boys of Rock and Roll". This gig also featured several new songs that we've been working on this summer, including The Doors' "Love Me Two Times", Shocking Blue's "Venus" (also made popular in the 80's by Bananarama), a few tunes originally done by Tommy James and the Shondells ("Hanky Panky", and "Mony Mony" - the later coverd in the 80's by Billy Idol) that we've put into a 4-song dance set (along with the blues classic "Boom Boom", and The Kingsmen's "Louie Louie" - popularized in the movie "Animal House"). More new songs for the repertoire are in the works - there's just so many great songs out there that we'd all love to play!

Here's a few photos from the 8/11 gig - unfortunately our keyboardist Wendell was out of view for most of the pictures (although his head can be seen in the second shot, where we played ad-hoc back-up band to our hosts' daughter singing "Sweet Childe O' Mine" by Guns and Roses):

As autumn is upon us, the SIX machine continues to roll with more gigs in the near future. As always, check our website (www.ILikeSIX.com) for the latest, but of note would be our upcoming Tour of The Congregational Churches of WInchester. First, on Saturday, November 3rd, we'll be rocking Chidley Hall at the First Congregational Church (we were trying to play a dance there last spring, but schedule conflicts could not be avoided). Then, at a date to be announced later, we return to the scene of our first official public performance, the Second Congregational Church (as part of their "Cornerstone Coffeehouse" events).

There are a few other updates on the website as well. Our links page has been fleshed out to provide some local links relevant to the band. Gearheads can also check out a list of what we we use, along with lots of links to the manufacturers. Finally, our publicity page has been updated with our complete repertoire, as well as a graphic of our new band logo - the same one that adorns Scott's drumhead, and some stickers and business cards we've printed up. Can t-shirts be far behind?

Thanks again for your support,

Steve, Wendell, Scott, Walter, Bruce, John - aka "SIX"
